The American Medical Association defines Alcoholism as; ‘a disabling and handicapping condition.’ The AMA also endorses the position that printed and audiovisual materials pertaining to the subject of people suffering from both Alcoholism and other disabilities. They hope that this clarification in terms will lend to the notion that Alcoholism in itself is a handicapping condition. They classify Alcoholism as both a medical and psychological disease.
