Childhood disintegrative disorder is a psychiatric disorder characterized by the regression of seemingly normal children into cognitive processes, intellectual development, and physical behaviors resembling those of children much younger than themselves.

Imagine being the parent of a two year old child who, so far, has developed normally. You start to notice that the child begins to exempt past habits, such as having accidents after being potty trained and a reduction in communication. The child's doctor gives a diagnosis, childhood disintegrative disorder. What is this? What caused it? Will my child ever get better? These are valid questions that any parent whose child is diagnosed with this condition asks.
