Nicotine binds to the dopamine receptors in your brain, this is a neurotransmitter that our brains release when we experience pleasure. When you stop the intake of nicotine, through smoking, you have withdrawal symptoms. There is no one size fits all cure for cravings but here are some ideas that can help you get over the hump.
