How Not to Gain Weight During The Holidays
by Sophiestein, Dec 14, 2006
Big turkey dinners for Christmas with more trimmings than the shiny angel-and-bauble-filled tree. Latkes for Hanukkah...for eight lovely nights. Parties at work; festivities with friends and family. It could be diet and fitness sabotage, but only...if you let it. Here's how to keep the scales in balance while you have beautiful, meaningful holidays.

Fifty On Fifty: Barry

This one was always BARRY, but I somehow screwed up and wrote "BEN" when transcribing his handwritten note to me. Maybe

Fifty On Fifty: Ben
by Sophiestein, Nov 10, 2006
There are two Ben's, my bad, as the kids would say...the first one is really Barry and their lives bear singular tellings. This is Ben from New Hampshire. Barry's is mislabeled in the article...I'm so sorry.

Fifty On Fifty: Milestone: Deirdre
by Sophiestein, Nov 9, 2006
She should be zen, a yoga instructor and psychic, among many things. But she's in love with two men and confused as hell. (One's married; one's sitting at her feet.) Hmmm;this feels easy enough, but Deirdre is freaking out.

Fifty on Fifty: Milestone:Sharonna

This is the saddest one. I was waiting in a doctor's office and this heavy-ish girl with a lovely face and smile brought me a clipboard. Seeing my laptop, she asked what I was writing. I told her about my novel and this project. She asked if she could be "part" of it. I told her I would be so honored. She turned and said, "Yeah, right, honored."

Loss, loneliness, fear. Girl, get with it. Learn to cope. Be brave, pull it together, take one deep breath...after another...after another, if that's what it takes. And dye your hair or cut it. You need to change...something.

Fifty On Fifty: Milestone - Barry
by Sophiestein, Nov 9, 2006
Happy Birthday in a couple of days. You look like Al Pacino, you're feeling a little threatened by younger architects. Do they look like Al Pacino. Your wife is not cheating on that hair. Celebrate, the best is yet to be.

More Milestones: Victor at Fifty
by Sophiestein, Nov 7, 2006
More in the continuing series about how it feels to reach this mid-life mark. For Victor, a bit of narcissism, just a bit, comes through. Honesty, however, too. And that's worth it.

by Sophiestein, Nov 6, 2006
Another in the continuing series of reflections about aging...this time, a French teacher named Katie, and she is...tres cranky.
